Charities

The whole point of big dave’s big walk is to raise money for my three chosen cancer charities.  You will have seen the reasons why on the welcome and about us pages so here’s a little bit more about each of the charities and of course there’s even more info available on their websites.

Breast Cancer Care recognise that breast cancer can take over your identity, stripping away who you are. That’s why we inform through our award-winning breast cancer information. We campaign for better care. We support people through their unique experience. We empower people to make the best decisions for them. Our free support services run by a community of volunteers and experts help women regain a sense of control at a time when everything changes.

Trekstock delivers practical and social support programmes tailored to the needs of young adults, to give them a better chance of living well through and beyond cancer.  Most young people take moving into their 20s and 30s for granted, however every year in the UK more than 12,500 young adults are told they have cancer. We feel more strongly than ever that this group of young adults need and deserve an organisation dedicated to providing information and support programmes to help them deal with the emotional and physical impact of cancer, and to help get them moving again once treatment ends.

Caring for me know how vulnerable a person can feel facing the shock of having cancer. They help individuals through a course of relaxing and therapeutic treatment to ease the situation they face.  A free course of six treatments of either Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Acupuncture / pressure, Homeopathy, Nutritional Therapy or Counselling are offered to each person coping or recovering from a cancer treatment.
